Start.

Start.

Everything starts somewhere.

šŸ‘‹ Welcome to New Vintage, a weekly taste of tech for wine professionals to level up with no-code and AI tools.

You may be asking yourself, why, Stephen?

You may also be asking yourself, who, is Stephen?

Fear not, these questions will be answered.

What is this?

For starters, what is this newsletter going to be about?

Expect bite-sized, actionable posts that help you use technology to get more done. Posts will be productivity-focused, with a bias for things you can use this week. New posts are released on Tuesday mornings (PST).

I will share what I know and bring in experts when I don't.

Why though?

I'm a pretty nice guy, but this is not out of the goodness of my heart.

Eventually, I want you to buy something. My main business, New Vintage Labs, builds no-code automations for wineries and incubates our own products. I believe the best way to build this brand, especially as a newcomer to the industry, is to show up, provide value, and start building relationships.

If this goes right, it looks something like this:

  • You get value from content
  • You give feedback because you're engaged
  • I learn from you and make better content
  • At some point you want to do business with me

Until then, I want to focus on being helpful via tips, walkthroughs, and the synthesis of information out in the tech world.

So, consider this a formal hello...

Who am I?

My name is Stephen Mok and in a world of "experts", I am a generalist.

I've worked in life insurance, co-working, geospatial infrastructure mapping, building fancy digital products, and now run my own company. Like many of you, that's meant I've had to wear many hats. The throughline for me always was wanting to learn and wanting to be challenged.

I like wine, but don't study it. I want to know why wine brands aren't trying to be more like modern eCommerce brands. So I'm here, ready to learn, to be challenged, and share what I know that might speed up that journey.

Topics to come

Here are some of the topics that we will explore:

  • No-code automation to make your back office work faster
  • Tips on how to use certain tools (ex. Google Ads, Instagram, Airtable etc.)
  • How to use AI at work (and for fun!)
  • When and how to be more "data driven"
  • Ways to think about (and execute) content strategy to grow your brand

The comment section is always open for any suggestions!

Cheers,
Stephen
